Self-care: An Important Part of Your Treatment

Teeth move faster when you take care of your teeth, gums and orthodontic appliances. Here’s a quick checklist to make sure you’re taking the best care of yourself while in treatment:

  1. Brush, floss and remove food particles from your teeth and around your appliance, night and after each meal.
  2. Watch what you eat/chew. Hard, sticky, chewy or crunchy foods/items can damage an appliance. And, as always, limit your sugar intake.
  3. Wear a mouthguard when participating in any sort of contact or risk-of-impact activity.
  4. Stay positive and confident!
